It's that time of the year again! I have started up my usual NHL Playoff Pool. You can check out the picks and standings here. Good luck to everyone that entered.

I setup a hockey playoff pool the other week when the playoffs started. If anyone is looking for the link it's here.
Kert and I played Lost Creek today. It was a round full of ups and downs I think. On the good side I not only scored a respectible 108 but I also hit some of the best approach shots I have ever hit. In fact I even managed to get myself a birdie opportunity on the 12th. I missed the putt by inches and walked away with my only par of the day. On the bad side my slice is worst than even. When I aim straight down the fairway I end up with a horrible 20 or 30 yard slice. When I am right to try and take my slice into account I hit it straight and into the rough on the right. I just can't seem to win. Ah well, it was a fun day of golfing anyways.

I've been watching the World Cup of Hockey lately. I'm loving the international teams. GO CANADA!!!! We're so gonna win!!!!!
I am however kinda disappointed that they are using the NHL rules for the tournament. I know that it's sponsered by the NHL and that's why they are using their rules but I still don't think it's right. I like the international rules used by the IIHF. From no-touch icing to no 2 line passes it's all good in my books. I wish the NHL would adopt the international rules. I think it would make for a much better game, but that's just my opinion.

Tuesday was my first attempt at pitching a softball game. While it wasn't a complete disaster it definitely wasn't pretty. I ended up with a couple of strikeouts but none of those were from well placed pitches or working the count. It's all about lucking out and having batters go down swinging. I couldn't throw many strikes and my team did end up losing but a good time was had by all.
Next Tuesday we are playing again. Thankfully we have someone else to pitch for us next week which means I can go back to my happy place at first base. Thank God!

I played my first round of golf at the Grandview Golf Course today. The green fees are a little pricy but it is definitely worth it. The course is in great shape and the views are, well, grand :)
I played a pretty good round. I managed to shoot a respectible 103. I'm still on my quest for a sub 100 round but I'm getting closer all the time.
On the injury note my hamstring didn't get sore at all today (possibly thanks to the power cart we rented). My knee however did get pretty sore around the 12th or 13th hole. I'm thinking it's a little overworked due to the weakened hamstring. Ah well, better be rested up for softball on tuesday :)
Let the summer of sports continue!

I haven't been updating lately so I figured I should start with an update on my ball hockey games. Two Tuesdays ago we played and I unforunately went down in a world of hurt. I managed to pull my left hamstring while attempting a save. The good news was that I made the save. The bad new was that pulling your hamstring hurts like hell!
I figured I would be out for awhile but by Tuesday of this week everything seemed to be feeling good enough to play. My hamstring was still a little tight and sore when I moved in certain ways but I took myself off the injured list and stepped into goal after only one week.
This week was a big game. Our little office series was all tied up at 3 games a piece. Too keep a long story short it was a very competitive and close game. Unfortunately the other team managed to pull out a victory in overtime. My only solace was that I made some great saves. Guess there's always next time :)
Next week we are moving onto a new sport. It time to take advantage of the great weather and play some softball! My leg is still a little sore but I'm sure I'll be ready to go come Tuesday. I cait wait!

The latest round of games in our ball hockey series was played tonight. It saw my team get another win and put us 1 game back of the other team. The series is now 3 games to 2.
I really had forgotten how much I love playing hockey. I of course never really played ice hockey, I really should learn to skate, but ball hockey is an excellent alternative. I'm loving my new goalie equipment too. I think I might have to get some of the guys together and put a team into one of the local leagues. That would be wicked fun.
Thats about it for me tonight. Time to go and do some more stretching so I'm not completely immobile tomorrow :)

Boy what a crappy game last night. My Leafs got completely destroyed by Phili. It was just painful to watch. The good news I suppose is that we are not completely out of it yet. It is unfortunately do or die time now. We either win the next two games or book our first tee time of the season. Here's hoping we won't be golfing until much later.
Next game is Tuesday night so GO LEAFS GO!!!!!!
I played ball hockey on Wednesday night for the first time in probably 3 years. It was awesome!!! A bunch of us from work played. It was 2 solid hours of hockey, hockey and more hockey. I was a little rusty for the first little while to say the least. It's definitely been awhile since I strapped on goalie equipment. After a few minutes I got back into the grove though. Unfortunately my team lost both games but it was fun all the same.
The bad part of course is the fact that I am so out of shape that I am still sore 2 days later. Ouch. I could literally feel myself ceasing up on the way home from the gym. I think I strained muscles that I didn't even know I had! It was funny at work on Thursday. Everyone that played was stiff, sore and generally in a fair bit of pain. I'm doing better today but my lower back is still a little sore. I'm sure I'll be fine just in time for my first trip to the driving range tomorrow :)
Bring on summer baby!!!!

It was a great game last night between my Leafs and the Habs. In the end it didn't turn out to well for the Leafs but it was a great game none the less. I was quite suprised about how high scoring the game was to tell the truth. I was expecting a 2-1 kind of score definitely not the 4-3 blowout that it was.
It seems that the Toronto and Montreal rivalry is alive and well. It seems that the media is more focused on the Toronto vs Ottawa games in the past few years. To tell you the truth the "Battle of Ontario" just isn't as exciting as a good Leafs and Habs game. There is definitely more history involved and for some reason the fans just seem to get that much more into the game.
I've never actually seen an NHL game and if I have my wish my first game will be Leafs and Habs in the Air Canada Centre. That would be awesome!
The Superbowl was awesome this year. After the first quarter I was starting to get disappointed. It wasn't a very exciting quarter of football but boy did they make up for that in the next 3 quarters. In case you don't know New England won the game. I'm not convinced that they deserved it but it was a great game anyways.
I had the guys over for the Superbowl. We had a TON of food. Everything from brie and crackers to chilli and BBQ chicken pizzas. I still have a ton of chilli leftover. One of my buddies Chris did the cooking. It works out well actually. He loves to cook and we love to eat :)
Thats about it for me. Have a good one.
Looks like it's going to be New England and Carolina in the Superbowl. Should be a good game but I'm pretty sure that New England will take it. It's not that I like the Patriots, I just don't think the Panthers can beat them. You just gotta bet on the 900lb gorilla.
Not much else new with me. The guys were over yesterday to take in the football games. I think they all agreed that a nice TV makes all the difference :)
Well I think it's time for some much needed vegging. To the couch I go! L8r!
The Packers lost. What was a great game for the first 3 quarters. It just fell apart in the 4th. I can't believe we didn't go for it on 4th and 1. Ah well. Now I will have to devote my cheering for anyone that is playing against New England. It's not about the Patriots! The Colts win this afternoon was just amazing. If they had any defence then I might consider cheering for them.
Looks like it's going to be another weekend of football next weekend. Just have to get through this pesky work week first :p
So it's the weekend again and more football is here :) The guys are coming over tonight to watch the New England vs Tennessee game. Should be a great game. I can't wait until the Packers take on the Eagles tomorrow. That should be a pretty good game too. GO PACKERS!!
I caught word of a wicked deal on a TV on Friday at Future Shop. I started to think that a 27" Sony Wega would look pretty damn nice in my living room. Of course when I went to Future Shop there were out of stock. They just never seem to have anything in stock when I want it. I'm going to keep checking back and hopefully I'll have a new TV in time for the Superbowl. Now that would be sweet!
One of my friends, Lauren, game me a daily calender that has brain teasers on each day. So far the only one to stump me was related to U.S. Presidents. It listed 6 Presidents and you had to figure out why the list was significant. After some web searching it turns out the list was the 6 youngest U.S. Presidents, at their deaths, in ascending order. Not really much of a brain teaser as a history lesson but ah well.
Anyways, I'm off to make some supper and settle in to the football game. L8r.
BEST TEAM EVER!!!
I just finished watching the Packers Wild Card game and boy was it a good one! That was one of the most exciting football games I have ever seen. Not often do I start yelling at the TV during a football game but I definitely did today. Harris returning that pick for a touchdown to win the game was a wicked ending. Favre had one of those magic quarters in the 4th too. What a game! I'm a Packers fan if you can't tell. Let's hope Favre and Green can keep it going and lead us to the Superbowl!
Let's see. What else is up with me. Not much really. Been watching lots of football this weekend if you haven't already guessed that one. It's just that time of the year I suppose. I have already decided I'm having a Superbowl party. Now I just need a big screen TV :)
Anyways, I'm off to watch the Colts and Broncos game. Have a good one.
