Golfing in September

I finally got back out on the golf couse today. It's been a couple of weeks and since I don't think there are going to be many golfing weekends left this year it was great to get out. I didn't play that well but it was definitely fun. I hope next weekend is as nice as this weekend was so I can get out again.

This weekend also marked the first appearance of the spectacular Queen Mary 2 in Halifax. It is definitely an amazing site! I went down the Point Pleasant Park to watch it come into the harbour and a larger ship I have never seen. I'm hoping to actually go for a cruise on it someday. Not going to be for awhile but someday for sure!

That's it for me. L8r.

Spammers Don't

I knew it would just be a matter of time but it seems that the blog spammers finally found me. When I checked my site today I noticed at least 2 comments on every single post in my blog. They were all for online casinos. Spammers really are ruining the internet. Damn they are annoying!

So to fix the problem I got MT-BlackList. It's a pretty simple little plugin for Movable Type that will not only de-spam your comments on request, but it also blocks spammers from ever posting to your site. It's pretty damn good too. It's written in Perl and uses regular expressions and a black list (of course) to do the filtering. I definitely recommend it to anyone that is having spam related troubles with their blog.

Madden 2005 Rocks!

I finally did it. I broke down and bought Madden 2005. I of course couldn't just get the regular version. I got the awesome Collectors Edition. It's not like some of the other stupid collectors edition versions of games were you just get the same game in a tin box with a key chain. Oh no. This one is different. The collectors edition gets trivia, a ton of videos, the Madden Moments game mode and 3 vintage versions of Madden games including the original. Oh yeah that's right, the first ever Madden game that was built for the SEGA Genesis. You also get a couple of the Playstation 1 versions. These could quite possibly be the most fun features in Madden 2005!

As for the actual Madden 2005 game it's perfect. The new additions to the defensive side of the ball are long overdue and they were implemented perfectly. Cudos to the fine people at EA Sports for this one. It's a gem!

A Sunday Round of Golf

Kert and I played Lost Creek today. It was a round full of ups and downs I think. On the good side I not only scored a respectible 108 but I also hit some of the best approach shots I have ever hit. In fact I even managed to get myself a birdie opportunity on the 12th. I missed the putt by inches and walked away with my only par of the day. On the bad side my slice is worst than even. When I aim straight down the fairway I end up with a horrible 20 or 30 yard slice. When I am right to try and take my slice into account I hit it straight and into the rough on the right. I just can't seem to win. Ah well, it was a fun day of golfing anyways.

World Cup of Hockey

I've been watching the World Cup of Hockey lately. I'm loving the international teams. GO CANADA!!!! We're so gonna win!!!!!

I am however kinda disappointed that they are using the NHL rules for the tournament. I know that it's sponsered by the NHL and that's why they are using their rules but I still don't think it's right. I like the international rules used by the IIHF. From no-touch icing to no 2 line passes it's all good in my books. I wish the NHL would adopt the international rules. I think it would make for a much better game, but that's just my opinion.
