Can I Interest You In Some Snow?

I finally got a chance to get out and about today. After about an hour and a half at the Superstore to stock up on some food I took a drive around the city. I can't remember the last time that I saw this much snow. I am taken back to my childhood in Newfoundland. Back then we used to get a ton of snow and huge snow forts were commonplace for my friends and I.

However, I can't ever remembering seeing such a huge amount of snow falling in such a short time. It's not a word of a lie to say that at least a meter of snow has completely covered Halifax. All in one night to boot!

Right now most roads are one lane and most and sidewalks are pretty much waist deep in snow. In areas where a large amount of snow has gathered or the cleanup crews have made a pile the snow is well over my head. 7 to 12 foot piles of snow are quite common around the city right now. It's just crazy.

The public bus system hasn't been running since Wednesday. The city is planning on getting the roads widened enough for the buses to start running again on Monday. I say good luck with that one!

From what I saw around the city today the Monday morning commute to work is going to horrible. I'm just going to take a moment to thank myself for getting a nice downtown apartment that is well within walking distance of everywhere I need to get to. Walking to work is definitely the way to travel for the rest of next week at least.

Thats about it from a snow covered Hali. L8r.
