Pitchman's Don't

Boy is Pitchman's ever going down hill fast. It has gone from clean bar with a great atmosphere to having broken glass all over the place and a stage for bikini contests. Can anyone say Palace? Not good at all. I don't know how much we will be going back there anymore. Seems to me that it's time to find a new bar to start frequenting.

Not much else is going on with me. I have been taking it easy and enjoying a kind of slow time for me at work. I'm sure things will be speeding back up here in the near future though.

Now that the golf season has started up I want to get out more and more every day. This winter thing is getting old really really quick. Go away snow!

That's about it for me. I'm off to enjoy the weekend! L8r.

All Is Well

I've been back to work for two days now. Thanks to the huge cleanup effort I think Halifax is getting back to normal now. Finally!

The public bus system is now running but at a very limited scale. Apparently the waits for buses are crazy and when they show up alot of people can't get on because the bus is already full. Of course with still very narrow roadways traffic is still a mess too. Times like these I again thank myself for getting an apartment downtown. Work, groceries and hang out spots are all pretty much right next door. I love it!

Not much else new with me right now. L8r.

Can I Interest You In Some Snow?

I finally got a chance to get out and about today. After about an hour and a half at the Superstore to stock up on some food I took a drive around the city. I can't remember the last time that I saw this much snow. I am taken back to my childhood in Newfoundland. Back then we used to get a ton of snow and huge snow forts were commonplace for my friends and I.

However, I can't ever remembering seeing such a huge amount of snow falling in such a short time. It's not a word of a lie to say that at least a meter of snow has completely covered Halifax. All in one night to boot!

Right now most roads are one lane and most and sidewalks are pretty much waist deep in snow. In areas where a large amount of snow has gathered or the cleanup crews have made a pile the snow is well over my head. 7 to 12 foot piles of snow are quite common around the city right now. It's just crazy.

The public bus system hasn't been running since Wednesday. The city is planning on getting the roads widened enough for the buses to start running again on Monday. I say good luck with that one!

From what I saw around the city today the Monday morning commute to work is going to horrible. I'm just going to take a moment to thank myself for getting a nice downtown apartment that is well within walking distance of everywhere I need to get to. Walking to work is definitely the way to travel for the rest of next week at least.

Thats about it from a snow covered Hali. L8r.

Winter Wonderland

Well it's another day working from home for me. After Halifax got a blizzard that gave us a new daily snowfall record yesterday everyone has been asked to stay home. Hopefully the cleanup crews will get their work done and I can actually get out and about this afternoon. I think I'm getting a little stir crazy.

I telecommuted to work yesterday and will be doing the same today. This is my first real exposure to the world of working from home. I can say that the lack of distractions is nice but I still like being in the office more. It's the people person in me coming out :)

I was watching TV last night and was shocked to see the Brit Awards where being broadcast on CBC. I couldn't remember ever seeing CBC broadcast such a big pop culture event before. I'm not sure if the CBC is turning over a new leaf or not but I think I'm all for it. I have also been watching Snakes and Ladders on CBC. For those of you who don't know it a new Canadian political drama. It's like The West Wing only Canadian style. I'm loving it so far. Here's hoping it stays good.

That's about it for me today. Time to grab a shovel :) L8r.

I just posted another photo album for Lauren. I think I see a nasty trend starting (joking of course). The album is of the Block Crawl her class had on Friday night. Looks like it was a ton of fun.

Not much new with me lately. I have been reading a book about project management this weekend. It is a book I borrowed from one of the guys at work. It has some really interesting opinions about how project management should be done and how to run a company in general. I'll try and post what I think about the book when I finish it.

I just found out the other day that when you get a project manager certification you get a PMP after your name. I have been thinking pretty hard about doing the required courses and write the tests to get it. I have always been interested in project management. Plus one more letter and I could be a PIMP! How cool would that be! :)

That's it for me. L8r.

Fridays Good

It seems that my blogging has again slowed down. I'm finding that my ability to remind myself to make a blog entry comes in fits and spurts. I'll think about it daily for a week and then not at all for an entire week. I think I might need to setup a "Go blog!" reminder in my calender or something.

Not much is new. Had a company meeting and get together yesterday and last night. We had a meeting to wrap up a very successful 2003 and to kick of a promising 2004. After all the good news we went to The Planet for some food, pool and beverages. Very very fun for sure. I had a blast!

Not much else new this week really. I don't really have any huge plans for the weekend either. Plans just get in the way I find anyways. It's much more fun to be spontaneous :)

That's it for me. L8r.

Photos Albums Made Easy

Today Lauren asked me to setup a web photo album for her trip to Montreal. The service that she uses right now requires people to create accounts and that is just plain annoying. I said sure, no problem! Turns out after a quick little search on the web it was indeed stupid easy.

I found this great program called Web Album Generator. It was easy to find, easy to install and easy to use. I ended up having the photo album setup in like 5 minutes. That even includes download and install time for the program.

For anyone that is interested you can check out the photo album here.

I figured a web based photo album would be slow but the pages generated by Web Album Generator and really lightweight. The album is quck and really usable.

Just thought I would pass on this little gem that I found. Hope you enjoy it!

Let It Snow

I haven't been up to much lately. Work has been pretty crazy. I'm thinking it will be slowing down a little in the next couple of weeks though so it's all good.

I'm thinking harder and harder about taking a trip down south. A nice week long stay at a golf resort in Flordia sounds so good right now it's not even funny. I think a week in March will do just nicely.

So it turns out that you don't need that much cheeze to make pizzas. I have been eating food with cheeze in it all week in an effort to try and get rid of all of the cheeze that I bought for the Superbowl party. I'll never make that mistake again.

That's about it for me. L8r.

Best Game Ever!

The Superbowl was awesome this year. After the first quarter I was starting to get disappointed. It wasn't a very exciting quarter of football but boy did they make up for that in the next 3 quarters. In case you don't know New England won the game. I'm not convinced that they deserved it but it was a great game anyways.

I had the guys over for the Superbowl. We had a TON of food. Everything from brie and crackers to chilli and BBQ chicken pizzas. I still have a ton of chilli leftover. One of my buddies Chris did the cooking. It works out well actually. He loves to cook and we love to eat :)

Thats about it for me. Have a good one.
